Privacy Policy
Effective October 28, 2026
Clarion Call Baltimore (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Baltimore community coalition. This policy explains what information we collect through clarioncallbaltimore.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
We only collect personal information that you choose to send us through the forms on this site:
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject, and message.
- Volunteer sign-up: your name, email address, phone number, preferred role, availability, and why you want to join.
- Organization intake: your organization’s name, a contact person, email address, phone number, a description of your services and capacity, hours of operation, and times that work for a meeting.
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address and your consent to receive updates.
Please don’t include sensitive information, such as health details or government ID numbers, in your messages.
Finding resources near you
The “Find places near you” map on our Resources page can show which resources are closest to you. Using it is optional, and the rest of the page works without it.
- If you type an address or ZIP code: our site sends it to a geocoding service, which turns it into map coordinates. We use the U.S. Census Bureau’s geocoder, and OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service when the Census Bureau can’t find a match. The address goes to them from our server, not from your browser, so they don’t receive your IP address with it. We do not save or log the address.
- If you choose “Use my location”: your browser asks your permission first. Your location stays on your device and is used only to measure distances; it is never sent to us.
Either way, distances are worked out in your browser, and your location is forgotten when you leave or reload the page.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our site, such as which pages are visited most, how visitors arrive, and roughly where they are (city or region). Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (named “_ga” and “_ga_” followed by an ID) to tell visits apart and recognize returning visitors; they last up to two years. Google receives your IP address to estimate your general location, but Google Analytics does not store it. We see only combined reports, not information that identifies you, and we do not use Google Analytics for advertising. Google handles this data under the Google Privacy Policy; you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
We do not use advertising trackers on this site.
How we use your information
- To reply to your messages and questions.
- To coordinate volunteers and match them with opportunities.
- To review organizations and list their programs in our community resource guide.
- To send newsletters and updates to people who asked for them.
- To see which pages people use and how they find us, so we can improve the site.
- To protect the site against spam and abuse.
If you submit an organization, the details meant for the public (such as your organization’s name, services, location, and public contact information) may appear on our Resources page. We will not publish personal phone numbers or email addresses without your permission.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers that help us run this site and deliver form submissions to our team: Vercel (website hosting) and Resend (email delivery). They may only use the information to provide those services.
- With Google, the visit information Google Analytics collects as described in “Information collected automatically” above. It does not include anything you type into our forms.
- With the U.S. Census Bureau and OpenStreetMap, only the address or ZIP code you type into the resource map, so they can find it on the map (see “Finding resources near you” above).
- With community partners, when you ask us to connect you with them.
- When required by law, or to protect the safety of our community, volunteers, or others.
Third-party content
This site loads fonts from Google Fonts, and our Media page includes an embedded YouTube video. When you open the resource map, it loads the Leaflet map software from unpkg.com and map images from OpenStreetMap; those images cover the area you are viewing. These services may receive your IP address, and some may set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies. Links to other websites, including those in our resource guide, are not covered by this policy.
How long we keep information
We keep form submissions only as long as we need them for the purposes above, then delete them. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices
- You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by replying to one of our emails or contacting us.
- You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information you sent us.
- You can stop Google Analytics from collecting your visits by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings, or by installing Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way.
Children’s privacy
This site is meant for adults, parents and guardians, and organizations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Our site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we limit access to submissions to the members of our team who need them. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
